Former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has passed away at the age of 56.

Wojcicki died at the age of 56 due to cancer. The CEO of Google and Alphabet inc., Sundar Pichai announced her death on X (formerly Twitter.)

Dennis Troper shared the tragic news of Susan Wojcicki’s passing through a heartfelt Facebook post. “With deep sorrow, I must announce that Susan Wojcicki has passed away. After a courageous two-year battle with non-small cell lung cancer, my cherished wife of 26 years and mother of our five children has left us. Susan was not only my closest confidant and partner but also a brilliant mind, a devoted mother, and a treasured friend to many. Her impact on both our family and the world around her was profound. While we are devastated by her loss, we are grateful for the precious time we had with her. Please keep our family in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult period.”

Susan Diane Wojcicki (July 5, 1968 – August 9, 2024) was a prominent American business executive, best known for her role as the CEO of YouTube from 2014 to 2023. At the time of her passing, her net worth was estimated at $765 million.

Wojcicki’s career in technology spanned over two decades. She played a pivotal role in Google’s early days by renting out her garage to its founders in 1998. She joined Google as its first marketing manager in 1999 and subsequently led the company’s online advertising business and original video service. Recognizing YouTube’s potential, she advocated for Google’s acquisition of the platform, which was completed for $1.65 billion in 2006. Wojcicki became CEO of YouTube in 2014 and held the position until her resignation in February 2023. After a two-year battle with lung cancer, she passed away in August 2024.
