Apple has made headlines this week with a range of updates and releases, including details of the forthcoming iPhone SE, the Android TV launch, and leaks about the MacBook Pro.

The much-anticipated iPhone SE is expected to launch next week, although no formal announcement has been made by CEO Tim Cook or his team. Despite the lack of confirmation, clues indicating a launch are abundant, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggesting the release will be before the end of February.

However, the iPhone SE does not come without its weak points. As the device aims for a relatively low price point, certain compromises have been made. These include a slower screen, weaker generative AI, and an under-specced camera, all of which contribute to the perception of a weaker but more expensive device.

In addition to the iPhone SE, Apple is also working on an OLED MacBook Pro. Although the retail launch is more than a year away, Samsung Display’s test samples have reportedly been fitted to demonstration units, indicating progress towards a 2026 target.

Moreover, Apple has plans for an update to the MacBook Air. The new version, expected to arrive in the next few months, will feature last year’s new Apple Silicon M4 chipset.

In another development, Apple has quietly launched an Android client for AppleTV. However, the company seems uneasy about this move towards open ecosystems and cross-platform compatibility, as evidenced by the lack of Apple executive quotes in the press release.

Apple has also launched a migration service that enables app purchases to be transferred to another Apple account. Although currently available in limited circumstances, this is a significant step towards a feature that has been requested by users for years.

Lastly, Apple has decided to rename the Gulf Of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” in its Apple Maps, in line with President Trump’s wishes. The change will be implemented globally later this year.

Stay tuned for more updates from Apple in the coming week.
